Black Swan is a pianist, writer, composer, and photographer of American and Chinese heritage.
She began playing the piano at the age of three and made her orchestral debut six years later, when she performed the third movement of Haydn’s D Major Concerto with an Italian orchestra. Since then, she has performed across the United States and Europe, including at Carnegie Hall, the United States Department of State, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C., and the Salle Cortot. Her past concert programs include Chopin’s two concertos, Chopin’s complete études, Beethoven’s last three piano sonatas, Chopin's and Liszt's B minor sonatas, Debussy’s complete préludes, and Bach’s Goldberg Variations. From September 23, 2025 to January 16, 2026, she will be sailing the Pacific as solo classical pianist aboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas. Next year, she is scheduled to sail the Atlantic as solo classical pianist aboard Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas from February 22 to March 30, before returning to the Pacific aboard the Ovation of the Seas from April 15 until July 10.
Black Swan began writing her own music and fiction at the age of nine. Two years later, she published her first novelette (under a different alias); like many of her writings, it was a dark fantasy with a strong female protagonist. Outside the realm of prose, she has also set several of her own poems to music. One of her poems, Flying, was used by singer-songwriter 李锐涵 (Rayhan) as the lyrics for his 2025 single of the same name, available to stream on Spotify, YouTube, QQ Music, and other online music platforms.
Black Swan has been taking photos for nearly all her life and particularly loves nature and landscape photography. A selection of her photos are available for purchase in various formats on Fine Art America.
When not engaged in artistic pursuits, she enjoys fencing, rock climbing, reading tarot cards, and gardening.
She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music (London).
